NOTICE OF NON-DISCRIMINATION
The Board does not discriminate on the basis of sex (including sexual orientation or gender identity), in its education programs or activities, and is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, and its implementing regulations, not to discriminate in such a manner. The requirement not to discriminate in its education program or activity extends to admission and employment. The Board is committed to maintaining an education and work environment that is free from discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment (See Mingo County Board policy 2266). Furthermore, the Board does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, sex (including gender status, change of sex, or gender identity), pregnancy, age, blindness, disability, veteran status, military status, genetic information, socioeconomic status, physical appearance, sexual orientation, mental/physical/developmental/sensory disability or any other characteristic protected by law (collectively, "Protected Classes"), or any other legally protected category in its programs and activities including employment practices (See West Virginia State Board of Education policy 4373).

The Title IX Coordinators serve as compliance officers and are responsible for monitoring the overall implementation of Title IX for the school district and coordinating the institution's compliance with Title IX in all areas covered by the implementing regulations. The major responsibility is the prevention of sexual harassment and discrimination but also encompass training at the district and school levels regarding the implementation and ongoing support of Title IX compliance. Title IX Coordinators are also responsible for taking complaints/reports/concerns of non- compliance allegations, conducting investigations, and reporting the progress and conclusions of any investigation to the Superintendent. The Coordinators shall also follow reporting protocols, as required by law and policy, in the event reportable information is discovered in the investigative process.
Mingo County Title IX Coordinators are to remain current with Title IX precepts and requirements and seek annual training in its implementation. The Coordinators are also responsible for annually training those responsible for implementing and monitoring Title IX compliance at the school level, which are the school principals in this district. The Coordinators also support the Superintendents’ understanding of Title IX and assist him/her with district monitoring and compliance. The district Coordinators will also provide guidance in developing preventative and/or corrective actions, where allegations or confirmation of Title IX protections occur.
District Title IX Coordinators and those responsible for implementation and monitoring of Title IX at the school level shall also ensure the dissemination of information regarding Title IX protections and procedures for reporting concerns or allegations of Title IX non-compliance.
