Gilbert PK8 Bus 1277 Gilbert Creek Minor Accident- No Injuries Reported

Gilbert PK8 bus 1277 experienced a minor accident this afternoon, Thursday, October 10. There are no reported injuries. Law enforcement has been called to the scene for reporting purposes. Parents are being notified and students will be transported home on other buses.

Announcement Regarding Williamson PK8 Field Trip, Wednesday, October 9, 2024

This is an announcement from the Mingo County School District about an incident during a field trip this morning. A Mingo County schoolbus carrying students from Williamson Pre-K-8 for a reward field trip struck a deer on U.S. Highway 52, yielding no apparent injuries and causing minor damage to the school bus. The school nurse and emergency services assessed the condition of the students. The students were allowed to continue their trip on another bus with parental consent.

Mingo County Schools, along with West Virginia State University, are joining forces to provide our Grandfamilies with the opportunity to attend group discussions throughout the school year.  Each discussion group provides valuable resources. The Healthy GrandFamilies Program is free for anyone who is raising children for the second time in Mingo County. 

Livestream of BOE Meetings to Begin July 2024 Announcement

West Virginia lawmakers passed legislation requiring county boards of education to live-stream meetings by September 1, 2024. Mingo Live-stream of BOE Meetings to Begin July 2024 

Superintendent, Dr. Johnny Branch announced that the district technology department has completed installation of equipment in the boardroom of the district office and that he has directed staff members to begin live streaming of meetings beginning this month. Meetings for the month of July include the July 1st, statutory organizational meeting at 5:00 p.m., and the regular July 16th meeting, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The meeting link is available under the “Board” tab on the district website, mingoschools.com .
