Livestream of BOE Meetings to Begin July 2024 Announcement

West Virginia lawmakers passed legislation requiring county boards of education to live-stream meetings by September 1, 2024. Mingo Live-stream of BOE Meetings to Begin July 2024 

Superintendent, Dr. Johnny Branch announced that the district technology department has completed installation of equipment in the boardroom of the district office and that he has directed staff members to begin live streaming of meetings beginning this month. Meetings for the month of July include the July 1st, statutory organizational meeting at 5:00 p.m., and the regular July 16th meeting, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The meeting link is available under the “Board” tab on the district website, mingoschools.com .

Superintendent’s Council on Social-Emotional and Mental Health

The Superintendent’s Council for Social-Emotional and Mental Health conducted their first meeting on September 30, 2021.  Representatives from district and school administration, school counselors, behavioral and metal health providers, law enforcement and other agencies were in attendance.  Participants had the opportunity to share their views and observations regarding the wellness of students, staff and those in our community as they have been impacted by many months of the pandemic.

 A tool was implemented to allow Council participants to contribute ideas for action steps that would directly impact the social-emotional and mental well-being of children and adults in our school district.

 Among ideas shared was the expansion of the school-based services and poster series to inform students and staff of available support.  Continued support for PBIS and a web-based repository of resources was also suggested. 

The council will continue to work over the next three years to respond to these needs.
