Mrs. Stacey Floyd
Hello! My name is Mrs. Floyd and I am the 7th and 8th-grade math teacher at Burch PK8. Although I am originally from Charleston, I have called Mingo County “home” for over twenty years. My husband is a 1990 Burch High School graduate, so I am happy to finally be able to say I am a Bulldog as well! We have been married for over thirty years and have five adult children, three wonderful daughters-in-law, and five beautiful grandchildren.
I graduated from the University of Charleston in 1998 with a BA in Multi-Subject Elementary Education (certified in grades K-8). I taught in Kanawha County as both a Kindergarten and Title I Math long-term sub prior to moving to Mingo County. I taught at RCS/ACA from January 2001 until June 2015. After becoming a grandma, I spent 6 years teaching English online to students from other countries such as China, Japan, and France. I began subbing for Mingo County last year and decided to return to the classroom full-time now that my youngest child is an MCHS graduate. I obtained an MA in Teaching and Learning specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University in 2015, and a graduate certificate in Educational Technology and Online Instruction from Liberty University in 2020. I obtained my middle school mathematics certification from the state of WV. An interesting fact about my certifications is that I also hold a TEFL Certificate (Teaching English as a Foreign Language Online to Young Learners) with the Ministry of Science and Technology in the PRC! I am truly a believer in lifelong learning and having a growth mindset. My goal is to instill a love of learning into my students and help them lay a foundation to reach the goals they set for themselves.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. I appreciate parent involvement and want to work as a team to help our BMS students be successful. You can schedule a meeting or phone call with me by calling the school at 304-475-2700 or through email at stacey.floyd@k12.wv.us. Let’s have a great year!
