• 2022-2023 Calendar Passed with a Few Changes

Dr. Johnny Branch, Superintendent of Schools has announced that at the April Regular Board Meeting, the Mingo County Board of Education passed calendar option C, with a few adjustments, for the 2022-2023 school year. The calendar has been submitted to the West Virginia Board of Education for final approval. The school year will begin for 200-day employees on August 23, with the first day for students on August 29, one-week before the long, Labor Day weekend. There is also a long weekend for students prior to the November election day. Students will not report the week of Thanksgiving, but there are two professional learning days for staff at the start of that week. Christmas break for students will begin December 20 and students will return January 4. Staff will report one-day earlier on January 3. The Spring Break will occur for students March 24 through 31. Staff will have a Professional Learning Day on Friday, March 24, just before the break. The major change to the calendar was the addition of an out-of-calendar day applied to Good Friday and to the Monday following Easter Sunday. A faculty senate day is scheduled the Thursday before the Easter weekend. This means students have a five-day weekend break for the holiday. The last day for students will now be June 6, and the last day for 200-day employees will be June 13.
