    AP Program

     

    The following courses are offered as Advanced Placement (AP) courses at Mingo Central High School.

    Students may opt to take the AP exam which can qualify them for college credit through a college or university that accepts minimum AP exam scores.  These courses have an added weight to student’s GPA.  The pace and material covered in these courses is at a college-level.

     

    Dual Credit Courses 

     

    Each department at Southern West Virginia Career and Technical College (SWVCTC) establishes enrollment requirements and grading guidelines for the courses offered at Mingo Central. Enrollment guidelines include a minimum ACT score. Students will be given course specific guidelines once they have enrolled in a course. 

    The following courses are offered at Mingo Central High School for dual credit.

    Algebra III - credit through Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College

    Anatomy - 8 credits through Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (BS 124 and BS 125)

    Biology - 8 credits through Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College (BS 101 and BS 102)

    This is a 2-period dual credit weighted course at Mingo Central.  Credits have transferred to WVU, University of Charleston, and Marshall University.

    Engineering Development and Design - 2 credits through West Virginia University (ENGR 101 with enrollment in AP Calculus)College credit can be earned through the approved and respective college or university that accepts work completed in an appropriate high school course.  The pace and material covered in these courses are on a college-level.  For some courses, a fee is required to obtain college credit.
