SAT
The SAT School Day is the state’s general summative assessment for high school. It is
administered on paper to all grade 11 students, except those who take the West Virginia
Alternate Summative Assessment, or DLM. The SAT School Day is given during a regular
school day in the spring of each year.
For the 2020-2021 school year, the SAT School Day is scheduled to be administered on
Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Make-up testing will take place on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Results will be shared with students and parents/guardians as soon as they become
available.
The SAT School Day is a nationally recognized college and career-readiness assessment
administered by the College Board and is accepted at colleges and universities throughout
West Virginia and the nation for both college admissions and placement. It can also be used
to qualify for the PROMISE Scholarship. Students have access to practice SAT tests
through Khan Academy, which also provides West Virginia educators and students access
to online content and resources to help prepare students for taking the SAT School Day.
SAT School Day allows Mingo County Schools to offer the SAT to currently enrolled juniors
during the school day, which expands access to a globally recognized college admission
test that is accepted at all U.S. colleges and universities.The West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment (WVASA)
West Virginia students in grades 3-8 and grade 11 who have significant intellectual
disabilities take the West Virginia Alternate Summative Assessment (WVASA), also known
as the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM). This assessment is a summative measure of
student academic performance based on the West Virginia Alternate Academic
Achievement Standards for English, mathematics, and science.Students in grades 3-8 and grade 11 are assessed in English language arts (ELA) and
mathematics. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 are also assessed in science.
Mingo County Schools will administer the WVASA/DLM during the state testing window,
March 29 – May 28, 2021. Results will be shared with students and parents/guardians as
soon as they become available.ELPA21
The West Virginia English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century
(ELPA21) is an online system that measures English language proficiency. The ELPA21 is
given to all students who qualify for English language development services through the
placement test. The assessment is aligned to the state’s English language proficiency
standards and measures the annual progress that students make in the domains of
speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Mingo County School will administer the ELPA21 to qualifying students during the state
testing window, February 2, 2021 – March 19, 2021. Results will be shared with students
and parents/guardians as soon as they become available.
