Drawing an abstract Still Life
1. Choose three random colors from the color wheel.
2. Draw the still life in the front of the room lightly onto a 12” x 18” Sheet of paper; stylize, abstract or simplify the lines and shapes in the drawing (either making them very angular or very organic).
3. Fill the background with abstracted shapes from the still life drawing.
4. Using colored pencils, crayons, or oil pastels; add the three colors that you chose in step 1.
5. Draw attention to one major area of the work by setting it aside with one of the elements of art.
ALTERNATE
Project 1: Drawing an abstract Still Life:
1. Find an abstract artwork in the Visual Experience or other textbook; choose three colors from the abstract work.
2. Draw the still life lightly onto a 12” x 18” Sheet of paper; stylize, abstract or simplify the lines and shapes in the drawing (either making them very angular or very organic).
3. Fill the background with abstracted shapes from the still life drawing
4. Using colored pencils, crayons, or oil pastels; add the three colors you found in the artwork from the Visual Experience
5. Draw attention to one major area of the work by setting it aside with one of the elements of art.
