Ancient Greek Narrative: Imagine that you are an archeologist at an ancient Greek archeological site or dig. While excavating the site you find an ancient artwork that tells a narrative (story); you can read some of the text but most of it is unclear- you can make out; something about a king, a temple, a god, a goddess, a villager, a beast and a priest... the thing is you do not know exactly how the story goes so you have to fill in the gaps and make a few things up.
The assignment:
1. You are trying to make sense of what you found. Put the items that you discovered into a narrative or story.
2. Draw the narrative in registers like a frieze telling the story through a series of bands.
3. Add ancient Greek buildings, be sure to add the columns, Doric, Corinthian, Ionic
4. Your paper must be divided into three sections like the example I have shown you below.
5. You must use a large piece of paper 12" x 18" at least.
Example of how to divide your paper.
